Terms of Service: Great Gadgets (GG-Bot & GEM)

Scope: These Terms apply to the Great Gadgets product family operated by YD Great Media, comprising The Gaming Gate Bot ("GG-Bot", "the bot", "the service"), the Discord application, and The Greatest Embed Maker ("GEM"), the web-based companion at ydgreatmedia.com.

1. Overview

GG-Bot is a Discord bot that provides gaming information — game details, pricing, deals, Steam library tools, live-stream alerts, and a curated recommendation feed — within Discord servers. GG-Bot's commands are free to use. GEM has a free tier and an optional paid plan, GEM Pro (see §4 and §11).

By adding GG-Bot to your Discord server, or by using any of its slash commands, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the bot.

These terms apply to both individual users invoking bot commands and to server administrators who add the bot to their guilds.

2. Who operates the service

GG-Bot is operated by YD Great Media, a sole-trader business based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, owned and run by Neville (the "operator"). ABN 97 516 623 849. Contact details are provided in Section 13.

3. License to use

Subject to your compliance with these terms, the operator grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use GG-Bot within Discord for your personal or server community purposes.

This licence does not give you any ownership rights in the bot, its code, or its data infrastructure.

4. Free to use, with an optional paid plan

GG-Bot is free to use. The operator does not charge for access to the service. No subscription, credit, or payment of any kind is required to run slash commands or add the bot to a server.

GEM has a free tier (1 MB of storage and up to 2 saved templates) and an optional paid subscription called GEM Pro (currently about USD/AUD $5 a month; the price and currency shown at checkout are the ones that apply). GEM Pro unlocks larger storage and item limits. GEM Pro is sold through Lemon Squeezy (see §11).

Affiliate content. GG-Bot uses affiliate partners to bring curated deals and recommendations to our members. This means posts may contain affiliate links. Where present, those links earn the operator a small commission when clicked or used to complete a purchase, at no additional cost to the user. Affiliate participation is how GG-Bot is kept free to use. This also applies to recommendation direct messages you've explicitly opted into under §5 — they may show the same pricing and affiliate storefront links a channel post would, and the same commission arrangement applies: affiliate links earn the operator a small commission when clicked or used to complete a purchase, at no additional cost to you.

5. How GG-Bot operates (commands, scheduled posts, and automated feeds)

GG-Bot delivers value through three modes: on-demand slash commands, scheduled posts configured by server administrators, and automated data feeds and alerts curated by the operator.

By adding GG-Bot to your server, you agree to these operational behaviours, which include an always-on recommendation feed — a curated stream of hand-picked games, tools, and content the operator believes will genuinely benefit the community. The recommendation feed is a fundamental feature of GG-Bot and one of the primary ways members support keeping the bot free for everyone.

Occasional service announcements — about GG-Bot itself, such as feature updates, planned downtime, or changes to how the service operates — are also delivered on the operator's schedule.

Some of these communications are delivered as direct messages rather than posted to a server channel, in four categories:

Owner Announcements — sent to server owners, summarising recent GG-Bot updates. At most once every 20 days (roughly monthly). On by default. This is one global (account-wide) setting: it covers every server you own, and it works the same whether you change it from a server or in a direct message with GG-Bot. Turning it off asks you to confirm first.
Personal Account Messages — a targeted, personal message from the GG-Bot team to you individually, about something that concerns your account, for example telling you that you have won a competition or giveaway. Sent only to the people each message concerns, and only when there is something to tell you, with no fixed schedule. On by default — you can turn this category off at any time, after a short confirmation. This is also a global (account-wide) setting.
User Announcements — sent to anyone who has used a GG-Bot command, for major new features only (for example, when the bot became usable in DMs). At most once every 28 days, typically far less often. On by default; a global (account-wide) setting.
Recommendations — a curated game recommendation, including current pricing and a storefront link, which may be an affiliate link (see §4). Off by default — you must explicitly turn this category on, on its own, before you receive any. Once on, capped at 5 in any rolling 7-day period, usually 1-3, and can be turned off again at any time. This is also a global (account-wide) setting.

The very first direct message GG-Bot ever sends you includes a short welcome notice explaining these categories and how to control them.

Run /gg notifications at any time to open your settings panel. It shows all four categories at once, in this order: Owner Announcements, Personal Account Messages, User Announcements and Recommendations. Each shows its current status and its own Opt-in or Opt-out button you can click directly. Each category is switched on or off on its own; there is no single control that changes every category at once. If you turn off Owner Announcements or Personal Account Messages, the panel asks you to confirm first, because you could miss important messages.

Scope. All four categories are global, meaning they apply to your account everywhere. None is specific to a single server. Running /gg notifications inside a server or in a direct message with GG-Bot does exactly the same thing, and a change you make applies to you across every server.

Personal Account Messages. The operator may send you a direct message, to you individually, about something that concerns you, such as your account or subscription, your GEM files, your entry in a competition or giveaway, or a prize you have won. These are sent as Personal Account Messages (see the list above). We send them sparingly and only to the people they concern. No messages are exempt from your opt-outs: if you switch off Personal Account Messages in /gg notifications (you will be asked to confirm), you will not receive them, and you may then miss important messages about your account or prizes. If you do not want to receive any direct messages from the bot at all, you can also block it or change your Discord privacy settings.

Server administrators can route the recommendation feed to any channel of their choosing, including a dedicated or low-traffic channel set aside for it. Additional automated content that may be introduced in future (for example, generic deals feeds or free-game alerts) may be individually configurable. Administrators who prefer no automated content in their server should remove the bot.

Nothing in this section overrides Discord's own Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.

5A. GEM saved templates and images

GEM lets you save templates and images to your account. They are stored by the operator on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Sydney, Australia, and linked to your Discord account. The free tier allows up to 1 MB of storage and 2 templates, and images count toward the 1 MB. GEM Pro has larger limits. Storage limits for each plan (total storage, number of items, image size and allowed image formats) are shown in GEM and may change from time to time. If you are ever over a limit (for example, because a limit has been lowered), nothing is deleted or locked because of that: you can still view, download, rename and delete everything you have saved, but you cannot add new items or make an existing item bigger until you are back under the limit.

Templates are private, not secret. Your saved templates can only be opened through GEM while you are signed in. They are encrypted while stored, but they are not end-to-end encrypted, so the operator can technically access them. The operator will only do so to run and secure the service, to help you at your request, to investigate abuse or a report, or where the law requires. Do not store passwords, payment details or other sensitive information in a template.

Images are public by link. When you upload an image, GEM gives it a web address so Discord can display it in posts. The address is long, random and not listed anywhere, but anyone who has the address can view the image, including anyone you or Discord share it with. Do not upload anything you would not be comfortable having others see. Images can carry hidden information from your camera or software, such as location or device details. GEM removes location and device metadata (EXIF) from images when you upload them. Once an image address has been posted in Discord, we cannot recall copies that Discord or others have already fetched or saved.

Deleting. You can delete any item, or all of your items, at any time, in any account state, including after your GEM Pro plan has ended. Deleting an image disables its address. Copies already cached by Discord or others are outside our control for a short time, and an image in an existing post may stop displaying.

Inactive free accounts

We may delete the saved templates and images of a free GEM account that has been inactive for 6 months. A free account is inactive if, for 6 months, you have not signed in to GEM or used GEM while signed in. We work this out from the sign-in and usage dates we record. We count the 6 months from your last activity, and never from a date before this section took effect.

We have not set up any automatic deletion and may never do so. This section only reserves the right. If we do use it, we will try to give you notice first (for example in GEM or by a Discord direct message) and a chance to download your items, but we do not promise to, because these messages can fail or be switched off. You can keep your files by signing in to GEM at least once every 6 months, or by downloading your own copy.

This section does not apply to GEM Pro accounts, or to accounts whose GEM Pro plan has ended. Those follow the 12-week schedule below. As stated below, GEM storage is not a backup.

If your GEM Pro plan ends

Your GEM Pro plan "ends" when it is cancelled and your paid period runs out, when a payment fails and is not recovered, or when a payment is refunded or reversed (see §11). Counting from the day it ends:

Weeks 0 to 8 (first 56 days): read-only. You can still open and use your saved templates and images. You cannot save new items or change existing ones. You can still delete items.
Weeks 8 to 12 (day 56 to day 84): locked. You cannot open or save items in GEM, and image addresses may stop working. You can still delete items.
End of week 12 (day 84): permanent deletion. All of your GEM saved templates and images are permanently deleted. They cannot be recovered.

You can always get your files back without paying. For the whole 12 weeks, including the locked phase, GEM offers a download archive package containing your saved templates and images. Renewing GEM Pro at any time before deletion restores full access to everything that has not been deleted. If you renew and later lapse again, a new 12-week period starts.

How we tell you. When your GEM Pro plan has ended, GEM shows a warning icon on the PRO button, and the PRO screen shows how much you have stored and a countdown to each step above. We may also send reminders by other means (for example a Discord direct message, or an email from Lemon Squeezy about your subscription), but we do not promise to, because these can fail or be switched off. It is your responsibility to check GEM and download your archive before the deletion date.

Not a backup. GEM storage is a convenience, not a backup service. Keep your own copy of anything important. Deleted items cannot be recovered, and we do not guarantee that stored items will never be lost.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use GG-Bot only for its intended purpose — querying gaming data within Discord — and in a manner that complies with:

Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines
Steam's Subscriber Agreement and API Terms of Use
All applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction

You must not:

Automate interactions with GG-Bot in a way that generates artificially high request volumes, scrapes data, or circumvents rate limits.
Attempt to probe, test, or exploit vulnerabilities in the bot or its backend infrastructure.
Use the bot to harass, defame, or harm other users.
Attempt to retrieve data belonging to other users beyond what the bot intentionally surfaces (e.g., public leaderboards).
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the bot's source code from its deployed infrastructure.
Use the bot in a server that hosts or promotes illegal content.
Upload to GEM any image or template that is unlawful; sexually explicit; depicts or sexualises minors in any way; is defamatory, harassing or hateful; promotes violence; contains malware or a link to it; infringes anyone's copyright, trademark or privacy; or shows another identifiable person without their permission.
Use GEM image links as general-purpose file or image hosting, for example embedding them on other websites at volume, or as a content delivery service.

The operator reserves the right to add further restrictions to this list as needed. Where possible, changes will be communicated in advance.

Your uploads. You keep ownership of what you upload. You confirm you have the right to upload it, and you give the operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store it, and to serve it at its link, only as needed to run GEM for you. The licence ends when the item is deleted, subject to routine cache expiry.

Reports and removal. To report an image or template, including a copyright complaint, use the contact page and include the image link and what the problem is. The operator may remove or disable any content at any time without notice, and may suspend or end access for a breach of this section (see §12). Content that appears to show child sexual abuse will be removed and reported to the relevant authorities, including the Australian eSafety Commissioner and law enforcement, without notice.

7. Linking your Steam account

The /gg link command connects your Discord user ID to your Steam account. This is entirely voluntary.

By linking your Steam account, you confirm that:

You own or have authority to use that Steam account.
You understand that GG-Bot will read publicly visible information from that Steam profile via the Steam Web API.
Your Steam privacy settings (not GG-Bot) determine which data is visible. If you set your library or profile to private, the bot cannot see it.

Steam account linking is at your sole discretion and risk. The operator is not responsible for any consequences arising from linking your Steam account, including but not limited to changes in the visibility of your Steam data.

To unlink your Steam account, run /gg link action:unlink-clear at any time. This deletes your GG-Bot record (including your Steam link). GEM is a separate product that uses GG-Bot, so unlinking or clearing GG-Bot does not delete your GEM storage. Files saved in GEM follow the GEM storage rules in §5A (including the 12-week plan-ended policy), and you can delete them at any time using "Delete all" in GEM.

8. Third-party data sources

GG-Bot retrieves data from third-party services — including Steam (Valve), IsThereAnyDeal, CheapShark, and SteamSpy — to power its features. The set of services we use may change over time. Queries to these services are made from our infrastructure; your identity is not transmitted to them.

The operator does not control these services and is not responsible for:

The accuracy, availability, or completeness of data returned by them.
Any changes those services make to their APIs, policies, or data that affect GG-Bot's functionality.
Any outages, errors, or incorrect prices or game information originating from those third parties.

Game pricing data is for informational purposes only. Do not make purchasing decisions based solely on prices displayed by GG-Bot without verifying them directly on the relevant storefront.

9. No warranty — service provided "as is"

Subject to §10 and to any rights you have that cannot be excluded by law, GG-Bot and GEM are provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

The operator does not guarantee that:

The bot will be available at any particular time or without interruption.
Data returned by the bot is accurate, current, or complete.
The bot will be free of bugs, errors, or security vulnerabilities.
The bot will remain available indefinitely.
Templates or images saved to GEM will be available at all times, or will never be lost, corrupted or removed (other than as described in §5A).

The operator may take the service offline at any time for maintenance, updates, or any other reason, with or without notice.

10. Limitation of liability

Free features. GG-Bot and the free tier of GEM are free, non-commercial tools provided as a convenience. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator's total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of the free features, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, is nil (AUD $0.00).

GEM Pro (paid). If you pay for GEM Pro, then to the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator's total liability to you for any claim arising out of GEM Pro is limited to the amount you paid for GEM Pro in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim. To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits or lost opportunities, or for loss of files you could have kept by downloading your archive package (see §5A).

Your consumer rights. Our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, remedy or guarantee you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. If a consumer guarantee is not met, you may be entitled to remedies such as having the service supplied again or a refund, and compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, to the extent such exclusions are prohibited by applicable law.

If a court finds any part of this section cannot apply in your jurisdiction, liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.

11. Refunds and disputes

Merchant of record

All paid offerings within the Great Gadgets product family — including GEM Pro — are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record for these transactions. This means Lemon Squeezy handles payment processing, tax collection and remittance, currency conversion, and invoicing on behalf of YD Great Media. You are transacting with Lemon Squeezy when making a purchase.

Refund requests and disputes

Refunds and payment disputes are administered by Lemon Squeezy in accordance with their published refund and dispute policies. If you wish to request a refund or raise a payment dispute, please contact Lemon Squeezy directly through their customer support channels (see Lemon Squeezy's own refund policy for full details).

YD Great Media may assist by providing relevant transaction context to Lemon Squeezy, but does not process refunds directly.

Effect of a refund on your access

Where a refund is granted, access to the corresponding previously-purchased package — for example, a GEM Pro subscription — will be removed as soon as the refund is applied. Receiving a refund ends your entitlement to the features or access covered by that purchase.

12. Termination

Your rights: You may stop using GG-Bot at any time. A server administrator may remove the bot from their server at any time using Discord's server settings. Running /gg link action:unlink-clear deletes your GG-Bot record. It does not delete GEM storage: files saved in GEM follow the GEM storage rules in §5A and can be deleted at any time using "Delete all" in GEM.

Our rights: The operator may, at its discretion, suspend or permanently revoke your access to GG-Bot — or remove the bot from a specific server — at any time and for any reason, including (without limitation) violation of these terms, abusive behaviour, or misuse of the bot's infrastructure.

Where practical, the operator will notify a user or server administrator before taking action. The operator is not obligated to give notice in cases of serious or repeated misconduct, or where notification would be impractical.

Effect of termination: On removal of the bot from a server, guild-level schedule and alert configurations associated with that server are retained in storage but will no longer be processed. If the operator terminates service entirely, these terms cease to apply, but the Privacy Policy obligations regarding data deletion remain in effect. If your access to GEM is suspended or terminated, your saved templates and images may be disabled or deleted. Where the law requires, or where it is practical and safe, we will let you download or delete your own items first. Removal of the bot from a server does not delete your GEM items.

13. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Queensland, Australia. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of GG-Bot shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland, Australia.

14. Changes to these terms

The operator may update these terms from time to time. When changes are made:

The version number and effective date at the top of this document will be updated.
The latest version of these terms is always published, up to date, on the GG-Bot page at https://www.ydgreatmedia.com/gg-bot.html. Use the "Terms of service" and "Privacy policy" links at the bottom of that page.
For material changes that reduce your rights, the updated terms will be published on that page at least 14 days before they take effect, where possible.
Version 1.2 (09 Sep 2026): added §5 describing GG-Bot's operational modes and confirming that installation constitutes consent to the always-on recommendation feed; added affiliate-content disclosure to §4.
Version 1.3 (01 Oct 2026): clarified that §5's service communications may be delivered as direct messages across four categories (Owner Announcements, User Announcements, Recommendations, Personal Account Messages); Recommendations direct messages require an explicit opt-in (individually or via the ALL button) and carry the same affiliate-content disclosure as §4; clarified that Owner Announcements is the only category with a per-server scope — User Announcements, Recommendations and Personal Account Messages are always account-wide; added the /gg notifications settings-panel reference and the first-DM welcome notice. Removed the ALL (Opt-in) and ALL (Opt-out) buttons: each category is now switched on or off individually, and there is no single control to turn everything off. Owner Announcements is now one global (account-wide) setting rather than a per-server one, and works the same from a server or a direct message, so all four categories are now global; removed the per-server scope text and the "All Servers" direct-message wording. Turning off Owner Announcements or Personal Account Messages now asks for confirmation first. Panel order is now Owner Announcements, Personal Account Messages, User Announcements, Recommendations. Recommendations can now only be turned on individually.
Version 1.5 (02 Oct 2026): reduced the GEM free tier storage allowance in §4 and §5A from 2 MB to 1 MB. The free tier limit of 2 templates and the GEM Pro allowance are unchanged. Added a line to §5A confirming that nothing is deleted or locked because of a lower limit: if you are over a limit you can still view, download, rename and delete your items, but you cannot add new items or make an existing item bigger until you are back under the limit.
Version 1.7 (06 Oct 2026): added a section to §5A reserving the right to delete the saved templates and images of a free GEM account that has been inactive for 6 months, meaning no sign-in to GEM and no use of GEM while signed in. This only reserves a right: nothing is being deleted now and we may never use it. If we do, we will try to give notice and a chance to download first but do not promise to. It does not apply to GEM Pro accounts or accounts whose GEM Pro plan has ended, which keep the 12-week schedule in §5A. The short version now gives the full product names, The Gaming Gate Bot (GG-Bot) and The Greatest Embed Maker (GEM). This reduces your rights in a limited way, so it is published at least 14 days before we could act on it.
Version 1.6 (02 Oct 2026): section 14 now says the latest version of these terms is always published on the GG-Bot page via the "Terms of service" and "Privacy policy" links at the bottom of that page, instead of promising a posted notice. Advance notice of material changes that reduce your rights is now given by publishing the updated terms on that page at least 14 days before they take effect, where possible. There is no change to your rights or to how GG-Bot works.

Continued use of GG-Bot after an updated set of terms takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with a change, remove the bot from your server and/or stop using it before the effective date.
